At the end of September we posted, “Libraries Announce New Organizational Structure.”

One of the items we linked to then included a new Harvard Library organizational design chart and info about proposed affinity groups.

Today, the library world is using social networks to talk about Harvard librarians being asked, according to one info pro at the university, to “basically reapply” for their jobs.

UPDATE: Mike Kelley at Library Journal has posted on the story and it includes a comment from a Harvard University Library spokesperson whose statement includes the following:

“It is inaccurate to say that all library staff will need to reapply for their positions,” Poplowski said. However, she would not provide any specifics about what the staff were told at the meetings that were led by Mary Lee Kennedy, senior associate provost, and Helen Shenton, executive director.
